SERVING IN WORSHIP
Acolyles_Ann_edited_edited.jpg

These ministry teams coordinate and encourage the spiritual and liturgical life of the parish, and support our clergy before, during, and after worship services. Many visible and “invisible” hearts and hands volunteer their time, energy, and talents to make our variety of worship possible. To serve in worship, contact the person noted below as the leader of the ministry/ies in which you are interested. We will train you!

ACOLYTES

Acolytes serve at the altars of St. John’s in Sunday liturgies in the Historic Church and All Saints Hall.  St. John's welcomes children, youth and adult acolytes. Contact Kathy Young, KYoung@stjohnsec.org.

ALTAR GUILD

Altar Guilds prepare each worship space for liturgies. For the Historic Church and All Saints Hall, contact the "A-Team" at
AltarGuild@stjohnsec.org

EUCHARISTIC  MINISTERS

Eucharistic Ministers serve the chalice to the people during the Holy Eucharist.  Contact Jackie Troppman, Eucharistic Ministers@stjohnsec.org.

LECTORS

Lectors read lessons from the Bible during worship. Contact Kathy Young, KYoung@stjohnsec.org.

POWERPOINT OPERATORS

PowerPoint Operators advance the service presentation in All Saints Hall. Must be middle school age or older and have basic experience with using Power Point. Contact Becky Daugherty, PowerPoint@stjohnsec.org.

STREAM TEAM

High school students and adults work behind the scenes (sound system, cameras, etc.) to bring the parish livestreamed services from the Historic Church. Individuals are placed in teams to rotate through Sundays as needed. In-person training is provided. To volunteer or for information, please email StreamTeam@stjohnsec.org

USHERS

Ushers are a very important part of worship, especially now during the pandemic where strict protocols and seating arrangements must be managed properly. Ushers serve at in-person worship, funerals, and baptisms. To become an usher, contact Matt Maloney, Ushers@stjohnsec.org.

VERGERS

Vergers assist at Sunday morning services. Working closely with the clergy, the Vergers ensure that all aspects of the worship service are well-coordinated and flow smoothly together.
Historic Church & All Saints Hall: Contact Patty Hagan, HistoricChurch-Vergers@stjohnsec.org

YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES

Looking for opportunities for youth participation in worship? Opportunities start as young as second grade in the YouthChoir. We also welcome parents to contact the leaders above if their youth is interested in being an Acolyte, Lector, Usher and/or Eucharistic Minister. Youth may also serve as a PowerPoint Operator in All Saints Hall. (See above)
