Scripture for the Day

“The greatest among you will be your servant.  All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.”  I, we all, have heard these words so very many times, yet how often do we take them to heart?  I am sure most of us do not seek “seats of honor” or “do good deeds” for the recognition.  Seeking inspiration for my Lenten efforts, I spent time in prayer on Ash Wednesday specifically focusing on how to more fully reflect the love Jesus taught us.  The challenge that came to me seemed simple enough.  I would work to be more Christ like while driving, standing in line at the store and any other day to day activity that goes unnoticed by most people around me.  Simple?  Thursday morning, not twelve hours later, I was cussing out the driver in front of me.  The good news is, about half way through my rant I was reminded of my Lenten commitment.  I am pretty sure I heard Jesus laughing.  I had to laugh with Him.  What I thought a simple task is sure to be a challenge – and with help from above – a successful one.  Blessings.
